Great news for the University of West London (UWL), as it achieves its highest ever position in UK league tables, climbing to an impressive No.50 in the new Guardian University Guide 2019 rankings of UK higher education institutions. The prestigious independent guide ranks UWL as No.50 out of 121 universities nationwide and also the No. 1 modern University in London and No.4 in London overall.Welcoming the news, Professor Peter John, UWL Vice-Chancellor said: ‘We are delighted to achieve our highest ever ranking with these latest, excellent results which underline UWL’s consistently strong performance in realising our mission to provide students with a high quality, career-focused education which delivers life-changing career opportunities. ‘Our continued investment in facilities, curriculum and staff is testament to our commitment to creating the best possible environment for our students in which to learn, develop and thrive.’
This year, new facilities at UWL include the Westmont Enterprise Hub, The Faringdon Centre for Non-Destructive Testing and the West London Food Innovation Laboratory, all of which link students, local businesses and UWL experts to help drive innovation in the community. UWL’s strong performance in the Guardian University Guide 2019 follows the University’s recent nominations in the highly regarded Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2018 (THELMAs) in the categories of ‘Outstanding Financial Performance’ and ‘Outstanding Employer Engagement Strategy’.
